The 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee announced that the Universiade cyber foreign language school program will launch on February 1st, 2011. It will provide language classes for volunteers, as part of the preparations towards staging successful games.
The organizing committee explained that the cyber foreign language school program will be available anytime and anywhere through on-line, for anyone who is interested in learning foreign languages. Students who completed last year’s Universiade English School can also take the course. These kinds of continuous ongoing learning opportunities will play an essential role in making the 2015 Summer Universiade a success.
The cyber foreign language school program, in conjunction with EBS, will provide courses in 14 different languages, such as English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, etc.
According to the organizing committee, the cyber foreign language program will “be a great opportunity, not just for Gwangju citizens, but for people everywhere, to spread the word about the Universiade, whilst offering an easy way to learn foreign languages.”
Those who successfully finish the course and receive excellent scores will be given various incentives, such as extra credits towards their application to be an Universiade volunteer, the chance to participate in an English school contest, the opportunity to watch various international sports events, and so on.
